Anybody have a recommendation for a decent human-luggable RAID enclosure with 8-12 bays for offsite backup? Use case is haul it into a data center, let it fill up, and then haul it to storage. I prefer a dumb box of disks easy to administer from a ubuntu server or mac laptop.
Yeah, or even the 12 bay model. I'm interested but also feel a little sticker shock at the price.

The Synology units are worth it. I've been using them for years.

Good to know! I had a small one but have no experience with the larger capacity stuff. I appreciate the recommendation.

You can also start with the 8 and add an expansion unit to increase capacity further.
