The amount of automated traffic coming from @SlackAPI is excessive and I've asked them to stop crawling the site, as it's having an impact on users.

Dumb question: why would slack crawl your website? Or, now I think about it, any other website?

Oh, so they're crawling the site b/c they assume if it's in Pinboard, they might be asked to do a preview at some point? Crazy. Google did that for a while with

We don’t do it proactively - only when urls get posted. Someone’s looking into it, but my guess would be someone’s bot that’s posting pinboard links regularly and causing use to perform a fetch

The crawling is across a very large number of users, and fairly evenly spaced. I guess it's bots all the way down.
