We could win election after election if we broke the Democratic Party's dependency on multinational corporations and Wall Street, but we can't make that break under our current leadership. It's time for new voices and a generational change at the top. It was already time in 2016.

I'm divided on this. On the one hand, I find it disappointing, and most likely sexist, that her skills as a parliamentary leader are not recognized by her critics. She appears to be extraordinarily skillful at wrangling votes, and in a parliament, that's an important skill. 1/2

On the other, you're absolutely right at what she symbolizes. Personally I can't stand her. But I don't expect ideological leadership from a vote wrangler. I wish we could say "this is our baker. she makes great rolls" and leave it at that, but in politics, symbols will win out.

Exactly. How many of the average voters who hate Nancy Pelosi can name anything specific she was responsible for other than passage of the ACA in the House? I bet many can't even name that.
