I believe the criticism is that they aren't dealing with it at all and are just publishing this stuff like it's useful information.
If you look at the live poll page, the effort is to show a lot of the moving parts of this process, including the fairly elaborate weightings they use to try to extrapolate reality from the respondents. I've been pretty critical of this, but I'm curious about @fchollet's take
Sure, fine. But how do you correct for a 3% response rate?
It seems like they just barrel through and then massage the numbers, and have a pretty elaborate rationale for why that is okay. I am on the skeptical side in this debate, but I think it's odd to assume that no one involved thought about sampling error except us tweeters
