We need to find a way to address the money imbalance in money between districts, so that even long-shot candidates have a chance to make a credible run. And we have to address the imbalance in time, so that all useful political money doesn't arrive just weeks before the election

If you want an inspirational candidate from outside the political establishment—maybe even a working-class candidate!—to vote for, you have to get them through the 18 month slog that precedes the election, and get their family through it too. That will take planning and money

There is an organization ideally placed to do this—the
@DCCC. But without comprehensive reform, they are incapable of doing this work. They have been captured entirely by the fundraising complex, and they lack qualified staff. The Iowa DCCC rep didn't know who Steve King was!Show this thread

Do you expect to keep the Great Slate going for 2020? I gotta admit I'll be pretty disillusioned if things don't go well next week.

It's impossible to make plans given the vast range of possible outcomes. One thing I believe strongly in is that we should preserve and build on the campaign infrastructure these candidates built, whether or not they win. That has value and should not disappear after the election
