The next morning, they are back on their meds and doing okay. So they're released… in Davenport, Iowa, with no money or way to get home. A woman in the audience had lost both husband and son with mental illness to suicide, and now has to drive her daughter hours to therapy (2/2)

J.D. has been telling her story (with her permission) at every town hall, so it was very moving to meet her in person. Having to drive hours for routine medical care, or to save money on medical care, is a common pattern in rural America. In Alaska, they fly you to Idaho! (3/2)
