God, everything at scale is so much more complicated than before. It requires so much more work than I ever imagined. More than ever, I recognize the effort it takes to actually work on problems. To utterly thanklessly iterate and renovate instead of promising instant revolution

I know exactly what it means to design revolution in my wheelhouse. I’ve proposed it. It is in my skillset to perform. In retrospect, it wouldn’t have worked. I was blinded by my zeal. Being a benevolent dictator still makes you a dictator. Unaccountable to reality and needs.

In my previous company, we had a central fileshare. I designed a prescriptive regimen to bring delegation under control. We’d have Chiefs, Diplomats, Embassadors, Admins, Modify, and Read. Roles/structure I would pre-build for them. None of it was used. My model was flawed.

My model was utterly beautiful. Everything I would carefully construct for them. It was the product of years of observation. I spent months designing it, automating, documenting. And it amounted to nothing. Because I did not have partners. I built it for users who didn’t exist.
