I am no fan of the Clintons--at all--but this constant argument that Hillary needs to go away is a standard that never has been applied to a defeated male candidate before. I wonder why that is? https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/10/19/hillary-clinton-democrats-go-away-2018-2020-221608 …

What is an example of a defeated Democratic presidential candidate who has similarly kept himself in the public eye in the two years after a defeat? My memory of Dukakis, Mondale, Gore and Kerry is that they disappeared for that time from the political stage.

We live in a vastly different media environment than we did even in 2012. It's much easier to track her every action and I don't expect she's going to hole up in a cabin in the woods for two years and not talk to anyone. She's passionate about her political beliefs. Let her be.

Maybe not make a beeline straight to fundraisers for Menendez, though

That's not the point. The point is that her "beeline straight to Menendez" wouldn't have been as visible in the past. Now we all have this real-time feed of news and noise plugged right into the side of our brains driving us all batshit.

This is a good point, too. Not just the real-time feed, but also indelible public transcript of everything.
