Reading the Lincoln/Douglas debates for the first time, it's pretty jarring how often the Great Emancipator drops the n-bomb. I'm also amazed at the format—imagine a Trump/Clinton debate where he speaks for an hour, she rebuts for 90 mins, and he gets half an hour at the end.

Projection is a skill that takes practice. Lots of people learn it naturally growing up, but those who didn't can't just "turn it on". Projection is more than just volume

Projection takes practice, as noted, and some folks have physical differences. Some literally can't be louder. Some will get dizzy if louder. There are plenty of other reasons not to get angry with the person but I can point you to anatomy for these two.
