Nancy Pelosi could make life easier for about half the Democrats running for the House by resigning her leadership position right now, Paul Ryan style

I thought septuagenarian was the Democratic party style. I hear we get Biden in 2020 ? ;)

she has a low favorability rating nationally because of incredibly misogynistic gop attacks who want to get rid of an effective democratic leader. mcconnell also has a low rating nationally because he is effective for gop. stop letting gop control your agenda.

She's nearly 80 and had a good, long run as leader. I think our next leader should also be a woman. But we need a generational change, and leadership that is not so tied to corporate money.

I don't have any loyalty to her, but national favorability rating doesn't seem like the right metric upon which to base this decision. Any successor would be rated no better after years of attacks.
-
I agree with you, but I'm making two separate arguments. One is that Pelosi should step down as leader, the second that stepping down right now would buoy some races where her leadership is a liability.

But isn’t a lot of the negativity around her manufactured, and they’ll just find a new boogywoman at will. Should we give them that power?
-
Any Democratic leader will be vilified, I agree. But it's time for fresh leadership just on the merits. She's been at the wheel for a long, long time (along with fossils like Hoyer).

How old does Pelosi have to get before it's not sexist to want change?
