If you work in tech and are a US citizen or green card holder, please donate to Steve King's opponent
@Scholten4Iowa through the Great Slate. JD is mounting the most serious campaign to dethrone Steve King we've seen in years. He can win with our helphttps://secure.actblue.com/donate/great_slate …3 replies 172 retweets 403 likesShow this thread -
It's important not to ascribe ill motives to one's political opponents. It's possible Luckey opposes bigotry but cares deeply about the one bill King has ever gotten passed, H.R. 2758, renaming a post office in Glenwood, IA, as the “William J. Scherle Post Office Building”

So what's the mitigating context for Palmer, then? I don't mind him, and I'm just going to roll my eyes at Pinboard unless I know I have the whole story. I am curious though...

Generally when someone in the media calls someone else a 'white supremacist' they mean 'normal human being that doesn't believe in one of my sacred cows', or, sometimes, 'not a Democrat'. So, it's usually not worth a click. Nick gets some trust. You lead with the race card.

I happen to agree with you that people are too quick to use the term, but Steve King is a guy who genuinely fits the description. He retweets straight up neo-Nazis in a context of approbation, and has made repeated claims about racial purity.

Then, instead of using a stupid label, use a direct example and attach supporting evidence. "Mr X, who tweeted here that babies taste good on toast, also...". At least then I can evaluate the claim and judge the behavior directly. I'm sick of labels.
