Take 2. What does "no ties" to the "political establishment" mean? Never run for any office as a Democrat? Taken no money from the party? Never endorsed/been endorsed by a Democratic leader? Many progressive nonwhite candidates might not meet this standard, if so.

3. "Excellent campaign team" is subjective. In my experience, nonwhite first-time candidates recruit campaign teams heavily from their own communities. They may not be veterans orwell known—it doesn't meant they aren't great. This also could eliminate potential candidates.

4. What's a clear path to victory? Demographics on their side? "Momentum" in the polls? And what's a poor, rural district—and why rural, specifically? A lot of nonwhite candidates run in poor urban/suburban districts, and would be cut out by this standard.

5. Ignored by the national Democratic party — again, this depends on what "ignored" means. But your essay notes that there are some candidates who are on Red to Blue lists but get no support; I'd say a lot of nonwhite candidates fit into this category of "ignored."

6. "No money from corporations" — I assume this means PAC money. (Probably the easiest bar for underfunded nonwhite candidates to pass.) But any of these could end up screening out promising progressive nonwhite candidates who need support. I'll suggest some worth considering.

Adrienne Bell, running in TX-14. 1st time candidate (was once field director for Wendy Davis, now a teacher). Facing terrible GOP incumbent Randy Weber. R+12, and behind, but in a wave? Has taken no corp PAC money. Needs cash. 87% urban/13% rural.

I suspect we'd have a similar back and forth over several other names. Happy to take this conversation with you to productive places offline, but I'm going to peace out here. My contact info is in my bio. Thank you for your interest in a project close to my heart.

I appreciate the context. Knowing that you tried and didn't hear back sucks. But knowing that you tried, doesn't. I have probably another few names that I'm vetting according to your standards — I'll post them without expecting feedback.

Just write to me. It's still four weeks out and if there's someone great I've overlooked, I want to do more! But a public forum for mutual yelling is a bad place to explore potential candidates. I'm 415 610 0231 on Signal.
