It's a really bad idea to switch to ProtonMail. Gmail is much safer, whatever you think of the company's politics.

I want to be careful not to imply that I have inside knowledge. I don't. It's my personal opinion that these are not safe services to use, basically because they paint a target on your back while not having the world-class security team that Google has
