If you work at a large tech company, won't you take a minute to go with me down the list of senators who just voted to confirm Kavanaugh?

Worth noting that
@Google is the only tech company that's a top-tier supporter of the Federalist Society. It's absolutely shameful, but unfortunately most employees don't care.pic.twitter.com/3PJNWevq1s

I'm not laying it on Google employees. I *am* a Google employee and I'm incredibly angry about this.

Just in awe of this thread where
@mcmillen and I are not insulting each other. But yeah, closing down the Google NETPAC might be an achievable (if difficult) goal for Googlers. It gives in their name to some of the most awful people.1 reply 2 retweets 20 likes -

Note that Federalist Society isn't funded through NetPAC, it's "contributions from Google’s U.S. Public Policy and Government Affairs team" per https://www.google.com/publicpolicy/transparency.html …. That page doesn't list $ amounts but if you look at FedSoc's own materials, Goog has given at least $450k+.

I think the way election laws work, NetPAC can only give to political campaigns, but I welcome correction.

Yeah, I'm not trying to *correct*, I'm just pointing out that Google gives a ton of money to political causes that *aren't* NetPAC too, and some of those are (IMHO) even worse.

I'm saying I welcome it because my understanding of election laws is flimsy and I don't want to mislead anyone. One of the mysteries of corporate PACs to me is that it's really a tiny fraction of the company's political giving/lobbying budget, why do the do it at all?

They do it for the same reason businesses take their clients to lunch: to keep the lines of communication open and the relationship intact.
