In my experience, the parties in Sept/Oct over-obsess about the *hyped* races w/ millions of $$ already committed, when they should be putting more effort into identifying *close* yet overlooked races that could effectively be bought.

An extra few million $$ spent on one cash-saturated race would probably be better spent polling dozens of long-shot districts and identifying a handful w/ potential. Every cycle, a handful of races w/ no $$ are squeakers, and many multi-million $$ affairs are blowouts.
