Security pros: If I run a fully patched OS, a fully patched browser, run HTTPS Everywhere set to “Block all unencrypted requests”, and run uBlock Origin, what are my practical risks when connecting to an unknown and possibly malicious wifi access point? (links welcome!)

This is *exactly* what I'm thinking. The mental budget is small. And advice must be as actionable as possible. So "apply sw updates" can work, but "don't get phished" won't.

Even though "apply sw updates" isn't perfect, of course.

True, there are going to be places/times when a wifi access point might be more prone to compromise. I'm wondering what actionable steps we can tell people to make their system secure enough to really change the economics for the attacker.

Attachments are there to be opened, links are there to be clicked, any worthwhile phish will be indistinguishable from the real thing. In short, we can't trust users to spot bad from good, so we need to neutralise the threats in tech.
