What's this filing/reporting requirement about? Can you explain how it works to a novice? I thought campaign committees only had to file quarterly.
Sure! 1. Campaign committees have to file *at least* quarterly, but can also file monthly. 2. Actblue isn't a campaign committee - it's a conduit cmte that raises $ to disperse to others. It reports monthly & discloses all contributions (not just those > $200).
Thank you! I was never clear on the legal status of ActBlue; I know on some FEC filings there's a 'ghost' ActBlue entry for each donation. I didn't realize they were filing in their own right at all, and appreciate the info!
So it's a good way to track online fundraising (especially among small-dollar donors) on the left. There's not really an equivalent on the right.
