when democrats say: "We have to hit our $75,000 end-of-month goal to take back the Senate for Democrats, but time is running out, and we can't win if we miss this goal" it's really off-putting. why do they do this?

i'd always back a winner over a whiner. saying we can't win without an arbitrary injection of cash is defeatist. do you know why they do this

I think this is a somewhat pathological fundraiser response to the problem of donors waiting until the last minute to give (the common pattern in political fundraising). A sense of urgency squeezes money out of people, but as you point out sends a terrible message
