There is a clear threat to 2018 political campaigns (Podesta-style hacking of personal accounts), and an effective countermeasure to the threat, but none of the people in authority (DHS, the two national parties) are taking measures to address it. The failure to act is galling.

The DCCC and NRCC should be offering security training to every House and Senate campaign, and flying trainers out to districts to demonstrate things like security keys and how to install a password manager. Instead, the DCCC (at least) sends campaigns email with XLS attachments

The GRU is likely having to lay people off this year because the bar has been set so low for American campaign security. These are well-paid jobs that people rely on to feed their families. You can help save jobs abroad and democracy at home by taking these threats more seriously
