So on the one hand, it's important to civil society that Facebook stop growing in power. But on the other, if it hits hard times, it will exercise progressively less self-restrait with the data it has collected. It is a very dangerous problem that will stay with us for decades.

Breaking up Facebook, as
@zeynep has pointed out, would just mean a race to the bottom between the fragments. But Facebook as currently constituted has shown itself incapable of handling its global role, and unwilling to try.Show this thread
