Cautionary tale: I took my MacBook Pro in to get the defective keyboard replaced. Apple store techs broke the logic board when opening the case, then sent the machine to a third-party vendor who replaced the SSD without authorization. The whole process took 10 days.

Handling sensitive data requires controls, one of which should be "don't hand over sensitive information unencrypted to untrusted parties." Even if they didn't take your SSD, they still could have taken your data.

Tbh I read that tweet as "if you sent me sensitive data, sorry but I've just seriously mishandled it!"
