Cautionary tale: I took my MacBook Pro in to get the defective keyboard replaced. Apple store techs broke the logic board when opening the case, then sent the machine to a third-party vendor who replaced the SSD without authorization. The whole process took 10 days.

The only reason I used to buy Apple for everything, even though it was more expensive, was due to the quality. I'd rather pay extra for a laptop that will last six years than save money on one that lasts for two. This drop in quality is going to kill their business imo.

My 2012 laptop still works great, as does my iPhone4. My last two iPhones broke in a little over a year (both on the lightning port)- so two weeks ago I bought my first android phone and I will likely never go back. If I could get OSX on other hardware I would.

I’m in the process of moving to Windows as I’m sick of being tied to terrible hardware. Currently suffering one of the Touch Bar MBPs.

What a weird time we're in. Apple used to make the best damn hardware you could buy. Now they don't give a damn at all.

The third-party vendor may be relatively new, though repairs have always taken several days. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro that with an SSD is more than fully serviceable. I'm only tempted to upgrade now because the new machines support 32GB of memory.
