The presumption of innocence isn’t in play here. The presumption you should be thinking of is no one may be the judge of their own case.

I understand that, but limiting the power of a President to appoint judges by dint of being under investigation is not only a presumption of guilt, but gives the Department of Justice extraordinary veto power over judicial appointments.

Extraordinary is a good word. I think the current circumstances are extraordinary. If you think this is business as usual, I'm puzzled by how you get there, but that's the root of our disagreement.
