Not only does it violate the presumption of innocence, but the founders anticipated this very conflict and solved it by vesting the power to impeach in the House and Senate. To be honest, it probably would be better to do the term limit thing for Justices, so at least either side of the political spectrum doesn't have this existential fear of one side magically dominating the court for a generation based on luck.

I think the outsized power of the Supreme Court is really a symptom of Congressional abdication of duty. The Court for years now has been doing half the work of the legislature. Fix that and the problem gets better.
