Anyone else wonder why a man under investigation for participation in the biggest political crime in U.S. history is permitted to choose a judge *who'll sit on his case* just 120 days pre-election, when a scandal-free POTUS was denied his right to nominate 9 months pre-election?
There's no appeal from impeachment and conviction by the Senate. The Supreme Court is only involved insofar as the Chief Justice presides over the trial. As far as whether a sitting President can be indicted, who else should decide that if not the Supreme Court?

I am referring to appeals on any criminal convictions that may result from the investigation

Whether a sitting President can be indicted, tried, convicted or pardon himself are all open Constitutional questions! And we only have the one court for settling those.
