How exciting is it going to be when anger Twitter discovers there are other historical periods and countries to draw analogies to besides Nazi Germany? It'll be like when your friend finally listens past the first track on that album you like.

I'm assuming this is because K-12 history education in the US barely makes it to WWII by the last week of whatever school year it's taught in.

Also because K-12 history education is, at least traditionally, not entirely forthcoming about American history.

I think a bigger problem is that Americans don't learn any history as adults, when they have a functioning brain, until they turn 55 and become obsessed with Civil War minutia.
