Let's talk about macOS Mojave. This new version of the Mac operating system is emblematic of Apple's strip-mining California imagery for its brand, while giving nothing back to the people of the state.

The Mojave Desert is a beautiful region two hours east of Los Angeles. A series of national parks, monuments, and Federally protected land makes it part of a large and connected stretch of wilderness running up the east half of California, a vacation playground for tech workers

Life in the high desert is another matter. One of its chief cities, Victorville, doesn't have a four-year university. It's hard for many people to get a decent Internet connection. The vast immigration detention center and prison are two of the chief employers.

Bolstered by Trump cronies in the Department of the Interior, the Cadiz water project is trying to mine water from under the Mojave to sell to Orange County, at the cost of irreperable damage to the aquifer that sustains this desert, in order to enrich speculators

Imagine the transformative effect tech companies Apple could have on a place like this, in their own backyard, if they simply paid their fair share of state taxes. Imagine the benefit to them if techies could live and work throughout California, thanks to superb infrastructure.

One of the candidates on the Great Slate,
@Marge4Congress, is running for Congress there. She can tell you all about the issues facing the Mojave—just check out her site (https://margedoyleforcongress.com/platform/ ) or ask! And if you live in California, remember to vote tomorrow!1 reply 3 retweets 23 likesShow this thread -
Earthquakes have done more good for California (by forcing large-scale spending on infrastructure, and creating opportunities for regional planning) than the multi-trillion dollar tech industry that grew up in the state. This is so shameful.

And Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, has traveled to DC to be photographed smiling with the President, and help advance his agenda, while millions of Californians live in fear of deportation. We don't need this. Apple is incorporated in Delaware—please, call the next one macOS Wilmington.

I hate to be a stickler about things. However, Californians DO NOT live in FEAR of deportation. You can't deport an American citizen.pic.twitter.com/3p3TOKBgfQ
