It's unreasonable that the perpetrator has more backing from the law than the victim of the home invasion
Lets just do a quick test, Should a home owner be legally able to shoot someone climbing out of a window in his house when he gets home?

I’ve had my truck stolen, my car burglarized, my wife had her car stolen and I’ve been physically assaulted. Twice. “Feeling bad for the bad guys” isn’t what I do. It’s not “on brand” for me. If a person breaks into my house at 3:00am, I’m going to tear his head off. And quickly.
