I think you would have to make a pretty flat prize distribution so potatoes like me have a chance of getting our money back without having to get to finals. But ye it is hard to implement pay2play structure for online cups in sc2. I belive OSC is trying that, perhaps talk to them

Could probably pay out top four with a weekly cup prize pool but grand finals would be open to all and probably pay out top eight?

Sure, doesn't sound too bad. But I feel like you would have to make it very much EU friendly cuz NA doesn't even really show up for regular cups. If its a paid cup and any regular NA player sees cham bly and such sign up, no way they would bother.
