The exception to this is where it concerns some technical matter of sociology - i.e., the kind of thing you would only know if you were a professional - then sure, sit back down non-sociologists.

People really think that just because they live in the world and interact with other humans that the weight of their opinions is on par with *actual* psychologists, sociologists, anthropologists, etc.

You can get these things wrong and still be a better guide to future events. Maybe you have a good Brier score in related areas over a number of years or something. But who keeps track of their Brier score?
