FWIW, this is an issue about which I've changed my mind - as a result of reading a number of histories of slavery. You can't actually redress the horrors of slavery - the wrong is too great - but the historical continuity of US state makes recompense appropriate.
Case for reparations is strong. 1. US economic power linked to slavery - economy built on slave labor; 2. Structural inequality, linked to slavery, means benefits distributed inequitably; 3.
