Very good point.
Though actually in this case I can get the lines to look parallel by squinting at them (i.e, half closing my eyes), which is kinda cool.

Right, some illusions can be messed with in this way. But of course that's different than them being responsive to evidence/beliefs, which still doesn't happen in this case (or any case?)

True. Some of the ambiguous figure illusions seem to be responsive to knowledge - e.g., if you know how to see the young woman you can flick out of seeing the old woman. (But maybe they're not properly illusions?)
