Hang on a minute, surely Marx believed that great wealth was produced by the proletariat, but concentrated in the hands of the bourgeoisie because of the expropriation of surplus value. Didn't he?

That cannot possibly be true otherwise we would see gross inequalities in the distribution of wealth.

Marx saw the polarization of classes as being inevitable given the nature of capitalism. He was wrong, of course.
