I tend to think Laurie Penny is a bit of a twit. But the people sending her abuse are stupid and vicious. Her apology was decent, and more than I would have offered under the circumstances.

You're right, of course, but professional journalists also need to get it into their heads that if the 'legacy' media is going to maintain any sort of credibility they need to hold themselves to a higher standard than random shitposters.
Quite difficult. People use social media to vent, pontificate, etc - quite tough to give that up. Especially for millennials, I would guess.
