It has been alleged that I'm alt-right (and once even that I'm part of a group of "new British fascists" - together with Nick Cohen, believe it or not!). So, just for the record, here's a list of some of my political views/stances:
1. Progressive/redistributive taxation policies; 2. Socialised health care, free at the point of contact; 3. The reduction of poverty, including developing world poverty, as major policy aim; 4. Pro-choice, abortion on demand, etc;
5. Gay marriage, of course, no discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation (of course). 6. Penal/prison reform - say no to retributive, punitive thinking. 7. Generous social safety net - probably on some kind of Rawlsian model. 8. Pro-Europe, against Brexit.
9. Open borders, as far as that it possible without causing social instability - again probably on the basis of a quasi-Rawlsian principle. 10. Reparations for slavery (presumably an unusual position for a member of the alt-right!).
I also think it is *blindingly* obvious that I've enjoyed enormous privileges in my life, and more generally, that if you've got inequality of starting positions then formal equality of opportunity ain't going to get you very far.
