Maybe it's the pernicious effect of social media. Or maybe it's always been the same, but social media allows us to notice.

Yeah, I was aware of danger of excluding myself from the judgment! I think social media exacerbates & exposes. But probably human problem.

I heartily concur; chiefly, social media renders the behaviours more visible, in my opinion.

Yes. Though maybe there's a contagion dynamic that wasn't so readily triggered in the days before networks of instant interconnectedness.

That’s a good point. Oft I wonder if the quasi-permanence of social media posts (as compared to (oral) idle chatter) is a factor there?
