For example, many people would judge that screaming foul racial abuse at a person of color on television could be wrong even if private.

But if we accept that private acts with no predictable bad consequences can be wrong, then why not certain kinds of thoughts?

What's the difference between screaming racial abuse at a television & fantasizing about murdering the members of a particular racial group?

Conclusion? Private acts with no predictable bad consequences can't be wrong? Or certain kinds of thoughts can be wrong? Something else?

I was thinking of the PewDiePie thing. It's a slightly odd thought that what he did was only wrong because it was broadcast.

I'm assuming Irish Murdoch exists in a possible world where we're all living in the Emerald Isle! :)

She only wrote one book explicitly about Ireland, so I don't think so. Definitely a possible world where Oxford exists :)

Doh! Missed that (and Iris was born in Dublin, so that didn't help!). Interesting discussion. Question probably hinges on effect on thinker.
