This applies especially if the demand to talk about it applies to a particular group, and the author themselves is a member of the group.
If an article begins, "We really need to talk about...", it's overwhelmingly likely we don't need to talk about it with the article author.

How about "Let's have a little chat about"? I often begin tweet threads that way...

Less objectionable because of absence of word "need". Plus Twitter threads can seem a bit arbitrary if you just launch into them.
