I was brought to mind of it because of Owen Jones's risible nothing more beautiful than Nazi's fleeing in terror nonsense.
I don't suppose anybody has an image or PDF of Seigfried Sassoon's poem, "A Night Attack"? It's proving very hard to track down.

I'm aware, obviously, S. is WW1, but "A Night Attack" is a terrific example of ability to empathize with enemy even amidst horror of war.
