Does anybody seriously think Twitter has been a net good for our political culture?
It's a horrible, toxic medium that rewards the worst aspects of mob behavior. It enables vicious bullying and is antithetical to justice.

An alternative explanation is that it's a painful transition period, caused by sudden ability to cross geographic, cultural, wealth divides.

Fits observations just as well, but arguably makes the bad observations a "good thing" in the sense that they are a necessary evil.
