Can't watch world level athletics anymore. Just don't trust any of it. It's a shame. I used to love it.

I wonder if this a reason to legalise doping, or as least some forms of it? And is doping more widespread in athletics than other sports?

I've wondered the same thing. But you'd probably see the emergence of supposedly "dope free" competitions (which would reintroduce problem).

Or maybe fans would just accept it in the long term, in the way most fans didn't walk away when a particular sport went professional.

Maybe. But why wouldn't athletes not prepared to dope demand their own competitions? If they did, and they happened, then...

That's entirely possible, yes. But in the long-term would we continue to see separate doping and non-doping games?

Maybe not. But if you were a non-doping athlete in doping games, wouldn't you tell everybody you were a non-doping athlete? If so, wouldn't

Yes, that would be the case if most continued to view doping as against the spirit of sport and morally corrupting.

But if the rules of the sport changed (like when professionalism was first allowed), audience's view of doping may also change over time.

I'd probably go for legalization, though. The current situation is ridiculous and not sustainable. It must be putting people off watching.

Yes, I agree with it not being sustainable. However not many in sport are opened to the possibility of legalization.

In fact, resistance to it seems to be stronger than ever. But maybe that'll change over time as big names continue to get caught.
