Sorry, I don't understand what point you're trying to make - the quote is manifestly self-defeating.

To be honest, I think it’s ruder to not engage and just repeat badly reasoned assertions. I may be idiosyncratic in that regard, tho.
-
Well yeah, one is always likely to offend when one doesn't want to engage and another person does. It always comes off as dismissive.
-
Well, I wldn’t agree w that. If eg you’d said, “I don’t want to debate this (on Twitter), just wanted to put it out there”, I wldn’t engage.
-
Rather, I wldn’t expect YOU to engage. I’d still comment if eg it was on critical thinking but argued uncritically. (As per my pinned tweet)
-
Do you really think you can make progress on complicated issues via discussion on Twitter? That's not my experience!
-
And how else wld we go abt it if not by good example? I think that’s kind of our duty as publicly active philosophers.
-
Didn't you say a little while back that it was fine for me not to want to engage - if only I made it clear!? :)
-
Oh, but this was on a different point. :P
