A curious thing about this whole Russia lark is that the Left are much more concerned about Russia than they ever were during the Cold War..
focused on the evils of US imperialism, & which virtually never mentioned the USSR, who are now decrying contact with Russia, etc.

Hmm. I've lived in the US since 1989 and parts of my family have been here since the 1950s, and I literally don't know any1 who was pro-USSR
-
Probably also different European experience. People weren't pro-USSR as such. It's more that almost exclusively the focus was on the sins of

the West. Partly it's to do with getting your own house in order. But not only. Criticism of the USSR was considered politically suspect.

..anti-nuclear movement in the 1980s, esp. the Greens in Germany (significantly funded by USSR as it turned out). What else?
-
I was thinking of the 1960s & 1980s. My pics from 1980s here: https://goo.gl/photos/LBKd9HKnbxVkggPm9 … (Also Stop the War Coalition in the UK.)

I see a message calling both sides to disarm, not unreasonable since the world was on the brink of total destruction.
