To be clear, I was referring to relevance in practice, as something successful in actual politics. Obviously there are other ways in theory.

I can't compete w/that, I'm no expert in this area. But I did grow up in SFRY, a nice case study in deliberate suppression of ID politics.

Ah interesting. I don't know much about it, but I suspect these ID differences will always tend to make their way to the surface in the end.
