Lola, my dog, had greeted her arrival with wild enthusiasm - you know, wagging her tail, rolling around on the ground, that kind of thing.

Delivery woman was petting Lola. I thought this would be a good moment to say, "Blimey, I don't get greeted like that" - meaning by Lola...

Delivery woman looked a bit startled, and said, "I don't know what to say to that. You obviously need to grow some fur!".

I should have said, No, no, I didn't mean by you, I meant by Lola. But that would have embarrassed her, so I just gaped! Oh god.
