It's not that he's wrong about there being a schism - there is a schism. But he's wrong about why 2nd wavers tend to see...

trans women as not being women (in the same way "regular" women are women). It's coz gender is a social fact (or structure)...

something associated with expectations, roles, etc., that are imposed upon people (via proceses or socialisation, etc)...

and not something that one can choose (or choose to avoid) simply because one feels a certain kind of way. The relation with

biology is complicated - and 2nd wavers have trouble getting straight about it - so, for example, they'd probably want to

argue that there is certain biological fundamentals that will produce a commonality of experience (e.g., child birth;

menstruation; fear of male violence(?); etc), but the point of 2nd wave feminism is to say that women's biology shouldn't
