You need a follow up for 'yes' answerers: how many think genuine consent is likely?

Do you mean for my very particular scenario - i.e., where the employee is turned on by power & the thought of sex with boss?

Yes. Did you mean she had a pre-existing disposition to be turned on by power and the thought of sex with this boss?

Right-that's probably implicit bias at work, though I didn't say boss was male

No idea! :) (Not being snarky either - I've never been able to get to grips with the distinction - if there is one!)

Ah - I think you mean ethical then; e.g. an institution may have an ethics board/officer, but not an morality board/officer.

But then we do talk of morality police - e.g., in Saudi. Plus, I think it's legit to ask whether an act is moral?

.@PhilosophyExp Morals: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Ethics: Don't do unto others as it may be an abuse of power.

So why isn't that just option B? Presumably it's the power relation that ruins the consent?

Issue is surely conflict of interest as well as consent. The latter is no defence to the former

The latter means that any concern about conflict of interest has to be balanced against the importance of negative rights.

I would think it can be, but it also creates a situation that can very quickly turn unethical.

So in order to avoid violating people's negative rights, it would be necessary to judge on a case by case basis?

yes, I suppose so. Either party could conceivably exploit such a relationship, but no harm no foul, I think.
