he spent a week on the dole in Tyneside for TV. Can't remember now what conclusion he came to.
He was great in that. He concluded that he'd not really had much of a clue before doing the programme.

yes that's when I first heard of him. I think he gained a certain amount of respect for it. I was on the dole in TS > 1 wk.

He did. He was a bit of a Thatcherite headbanger at that point. He's a friend of a friend of mine. Nice guy, apparently.
