FWIW I don't think "SJWism" had anything to do with this. It's British xenophobia and political recklessness to blame; nothing more.

Yes. But resentment is magnified because A) is taken to be sign of moral depravity. No voice for alienated.

Fair enough - and I guess "leaving the EU" is chance to vote for "no foreigners" and make it seem respectable.

And EU is *itself* seen as part of the establishment - alien, remote, self-interested, etc.
