It's a metaphor, of course, but it's a wildly misleading metaphor. (Not that there is a God.)
The Pope's claim that "God weeps" for the suffering of victims of abuse makes no theological sense. It's absurdly anthropomorphic.

@distantcities There is some wriggle room if we're talking Godhead. But it's a moot point whether the concept of the Trinity makes sense! -
